Trust Reason

Let the government represent ALL of us

  • 1) That phrase is a religious phrase put in there to promote religion, especially Christianity.
  • 2) It only represents those of us who trust in gods. According to the recent ARIS Study, that leaves out 14.1% of us.
  • 3) It is unconstitutional. This government is not supposed to pass laws that promote one religious belief over another.
  • 4) It makes those of us who don't happen to believe in God second-class citizens.
  • 5) It goes against what the founding fathers established for our country.
  • 6) It is divisive, and meant to be divisive. It was instituted during the McCarthy era to distinguish us from those "communist atheists", who, by the way were not all atheist. Also, the vast majority of atheists in this country are not communist.
  • 7) It is a step towards establishing the US as a theocracy, which is why the Dominionists are pushing any mention of God in government.
  • 8) It tells the world that the US really isn't a country of religious freedom.
  • 9) It gives the Religious Right too much power. They use that phrase to explain why they should have their agenda imposed.
  • 10) E Pluribus Unum is a much better phrase.
